Browns’ Ontario Big Game Hunts
Browns’ Big Game Hunts have been proudly offered since taking ownership in 1978. Primary species include Black Bear, Moose, Timber Wolf, Grouse, and Hare. Much of our prime hunting area lies within the Turtle River–White Otter Provincial Park, a remote and unspoiled wilderness known for producing true trophy-class game.
This vast region spans nearly 2 million acres with no rail lines, runways, or power lines. A single lightly traveled highway (622) winds through the area, while abandoned logging roads and trails provide limited access—keeping hunting pressure low and success rates high.
Located just 2 hours northeast of Fort Frances and 3 hours northwest of Pigeon River (Canadian border crossings), hunters stay at Browns’ Clearwater West Lodge. Guests are accommodated in private 2-, 3-, or 4-bedroom fully equipped cottages. Meal-plan hunters dine in the main lodge, centrally located within this expansive hunting and fishing playground.
Firearms entering Canada must be registered in advance. Each hunter may register up to nine firearms for a 60-day period and import up to 200 rounds of ammunition. Handguns and fully automatic firearms are prohibited.
Upon booking, a 50% non-refundable (but transferable) deposit is required. Cash or cheque only. References are readily available—please call or email with any questions.

We limit the number of hunters to approximately 12–15 per week, often fewer. Hunts may be conducted as close as one mile from the lodge or up to 50 miles away. All hunt documentation is handled through the lodge.
We maintain over 150 active bait sites. Hunters select their preferred sites and are responsible for maintaining them throughout the hunt. Bait ingredients include beef, pork, chicken, grains, sweets, and Browns’ proprietary Sur-Lur.
With nearly one million acres of exclusively leased hunting grounds and one of the densest black bear populations in Ontario, success rates are exceptional. Color-phase bears are common, including blond, cinnamon, chocolate, and black. Numerous Pope & Young and Boone & Crockett trophies have been harvested over the years.
Our facilities are wheelchair accessible, and to date, all mobility-restricted hunters have successfully harvested trophy bears.
Moose Hunts
We would be honored to host you and your hunting party. Due to extremely limited tag availability, please contact the lodge directly at 1-800-900-4240 for pricing and availability.
Moose hunt packages include 7 days / 7 nights and are based on a minimum of two hunters. Adult bull and cow tags are extremely limited, making early inquiry essential.
We are year-round residents of the area and continuously scout for trophy bulls. Typical rack sizes range from 45” to 60”, with our largest harvested bull measuring 67”.
Hunters depart from the lodge each morning using boats, canoes, 4×4 trucks, or ATVs depending on preference and conditions. Every available hour is dedicated to maximizing success.
With access to over 2 million acres of prime moose country and decades of firsthand experience, we are confident in offering a hunt worthy of a lifetime memory.
Our facilities are wheelchair accessible. Please advise us of any special accommodation needs prior to booking—we are happy to help.
