Browns’ Ontario Big Game Hunts

Our Big Game Hunts have been offered since taking ownership in 1978!  Primary Species offered include Black Bear, Moose, Timber Wolf, Grouse & Hare. Much of the prime hunt area includes the Turtle River White Otter Provincial Park which boasts “High-End” Trophy Class Game. By all standards, this Park is very remote, unspoiled & definitely unpopulated. A single; sparsely travelled highway (622) winds through 2 million acres – no rail lines, runways or power lines! Abandoned, log-haul tertiary gravel roads & trails are sprinkled over portions, permitting limited access!

Located 2 hours Northeast of Fort Frances, ON & 3 hours Northwest of Pigeon River, ON (Canadian Border Crossings), you are accommodated at Browns’ Clearwater West Lodge. Separate, private 2-3-4 bedroom Cottages are fully equipped for all your housekeeping needs. Hunters on Meals Plans are catered to in the Lodge Dining Room. This facility is centrally located on a vast Hunting & Fishing playground.

For Gun Import into Canada, each Hunter’s firearms must be registered. This form includes up to 9 firearms for a 60 day term. Handguns & Fully Automatic firearms are prohibited. In addition you may import 200 rounds of ammunition.

Upon booking, 50% of the Hunt Package is required. (Cash/Cheques Only) Deposit is non-refundable; but transferable. References readily provided. Please e-mail or call for clarification on any matter, with any question.

We limit the number of Hunters – generally 12 to 15 weekly, often fewer! You may hunt as close as 1 mile from the Lodge or as far as 50 miles – you choose!  All Hunt Documentation is handled through the Lodge and you will need to furnish your own tree stands, hunter orange clothing, transportation and firearms.

We maintain a large number of baits (often 150+) and invite Hunters to select the baits necessary to bag their Trophy. Upon choosing the sites, Hunters then assume the responsibility of keeping them baited as long as they are hunting over them.

Primary bait ingredients will vary and all products are effective; beef, pork, chicken, wheat, corn, sweet rolls, bread, chocolate, griddle grease, as well as, Browns’ Secret ‘Sur-Lur’.

With nearly 1 million acres of Exclusively Leased Hunting Grounds and one of the Densest Populated Black Bear Areas in this Province, we are certain we can offer you a hunt worth remembering. Based on our knowledge and lifelong experience, we guess-ti-mate this region sustains approximately 1500 – 1800 Bruins.

Many of our Trophies are colored animals – Blond, Cinnamon, Chocolate, Black! (White Chest Markings – V’s, Crosses, etc.) An impressive number of “Pope & Young” & “Boone & Crocket” animals have been harvested in our many years in business.  Let us know how we may help secure your Trophy Bear. Our facilities are wheelchair accessible and to this date, all handicapped Hunters have been successful in harvesting their Trophy.

Moose Hunts

We would be honoured to host you and your hunting party, for tag availability and pricing please contact the Lodge directly at 1-800-900-4240.

Our Hunt Packages are 7 days/7 nights and are based on a minimum of 2 Hunters – fees are slightly higher for single Hunters.  Adult Bull and Cow tags are extremely limited, therefore, if you are contemplating a Moose Hunt, it is imperative you notify us at your earliest convenience.

All Hunt Documentation is handled through the Lodge and you will need to furnish hunter orange clothing for Rifle Hunts or camouflage clothing for Archery Hunts & firearms. The most popular rifle caliber is the .30, followed by .270 and 7mm.

We are year ’round Residents of the area and continuously scout for your “Trophy Bull” – realistically with a rack size of 45” to 60” (67” our best).

Our Hunters leave from the Lodge premises each morning. Depending on guest’s preference, daily transportation may vary from water (Boat/Canoe) to land (4×4 Truck/ATV). Every available hour is spent Hunting with your success in mind.

With an excess of 2 million acres of Prime Moose Country to traverse and one of the Densest Moose Populations found in this Province, first hand information makes us certain we have plenty to offer you.  Many “Pope & Young” & “Boone & Crocket” animals have been harvested in our many years in business. Let us know how we may help secure your Trophy Moose.

Our facilities are wheelchair accessible.  If additional accommodation is required, please let us know prior to booking.  We would be most happy to serve you  and make the hunt a memorable experience!
